Passengers complete travel procedures at Baghdad International Airport
Iraqi Airways launches online boarding pass and seat selection service
BAGHDAD — Iraqi Airways has introduced a new online service allowing passengers to select seats and obtain boarding passes in advance via the national carrier’s app and website, the Ministry of Transport announced Thursday.
The airline said the service is part of an effort to simplify travel procedures and bring operations in line with global air travel standards. It follows a directive from Transport Minister Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi to improve passenger services and expand digital offerings.
General Manager Manaf Abdul Munim Ajil said the new feature enables travelers to “choose their seats and issue boarding passes days before the flight free of charge, without the need to go through the ticket counter at the airport terminal.” He added that passengers with only small hand luggage can now proceed directly to the boarding gate, while those with checked bags may still use the designated drop-off counters.
Ajil described the rollout as “the first in a series of new commercial and electronic services” aimed at upgrading the customer experience. He said the initiative is part of a broader plan to modernize services and expand Iraq’s national airline’s digital footprint.
The Transport Ministry called the move a step toward simplifying airport procedures and increasing comfort for travelers at every stage of their journey.
