Cooler temperatures, clear skies across Iraq this week

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s Meteorological Authority forecast clear skies and a gradual decline in temperatures across most governorates this week, with light northwesterly winds and good visibility expected.

In a report released Tuesday, the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring said the country “is under the influence of a high-pressure system extending from Eastern Europe,” keeping conditions stable and dry.

The authority said “temperatures will be slightly lower than those recorded yesterday,” especially in the central and southern regions, while northern areas will remain moderate.

Winds are expected to be “northwesterly light to moderate, ranging between 10 and 20 kilometers per hour,” occasionally strengthening in the south. Visibility will range “between 8 and 10 kilometers,” dropping to around 7 kilometers in the early morning due to fog or dust in some areas.

The forecast indicates steady, sunny weather through Saturday, Oct. 11, with a continued gradual cooling trend marking the early onset of Iraq’s autumn after months of summer heat.
