Iraqi Finance Ministry Denies Salary Delays, Reaffirms Timely Payments
Finance Ministry denies rumors of pay cuts for security forces
BAGHDAD — The Ministry of Finance on Monday denied social media claims that salaries for army and police personnel would be reduced or halted next month, calling the reports “completely untrue.”
“The Ministry of Finance reiterates its denial of rumors spread on social media alleging an intention to reduce or suspend the salaries of army and police members next month,” the ministry said in a statement. “These reports are completely untrue.”
It clarified that Minister Taif Sami “has not made any statement on this matter,” adding that “those spreading such lies aim to mislead public opinion and create confusion among citizens.”
The ministry said salary payments continue according to existing laws and schedules, and the financial situation is being managed to ensure all obligations toward employees and security personnel are met.
It warned it would take legal action against those spreading false information.
This marks the second time the ministry has rejected such claims. In September, it dismissed similar reports alleging that Sami had advised the prime minister to cut or suspend salaries for security personnel, calling them baseless.
