Two workers killed in Kirkuk while hanging election poster

KIRKUK — Two workers were killed instantly when a speeding car hit them as they were installing an election campaign poster near the new courthouse in Kirkuk, local health authorities said.

Ahmad Dleimi, an eyewitness, told 964media that “two workers were hanging an election campaign poster for a candidate near the new courthouse in Kirkuk when an Opel car speeding down the road hit them, killing both on the spot.” He said the victims were between 33 and 35 years old.

Saman Yaba, spokesperson for the Kirkuk Health Directorate, told 964media that “two bodies were transferred to the forensic department, and we are now waiting for their families to identify and receive them.”

Campaigning for Iraq’s parliamentary elections began Friday, with the vote set for Nov. 11.
