Seven family members killed in Bardarash–Kalak road collision

BARDARASH — Seven members of one family, including parents and five children, were killed Friday afternoon in a traffic incident on the Bardarash–Kalak road when their car collided with a truck, officials said.

Ibrahim Fariq, director of civil defense in Akre district, told 964media that the passenger car and the truck caught fire after the collision which took place at 4:00 p.m.

“Five members of a family, a father, a mother, and three children, burned inside the car and died. The mother was pregnant,” he initially said.

Fariq later confirmed that after burnt remains were recovered from the vehicle and sent to the forensic department in Duhok, the number of victims was established as seven, including unborn child.
