Iraqi president, PM discuss political unity, regional issues and election preparations

BAGHDAD — President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid and Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani met Tuesday to discuss political, regional, and electoral matters, according to statements from both the Presidency and the Prime Minister’s Office.

The meeting reviewed the latest developments in the country and “emphasized the need for unified positions among national forces in supporting the government’s program and its plans aimed at achieving development and prosperity.” Discussions also covered regional issues and Iraq’s role and efforts in “consolidating the foundations of security and stability in the region.”

The meeting discussed the latest developments in the country and emphasized unifying the positions of national forces in supporting the government’s program and its plans aimed at achieving development and prosperity. It also addressed regional issues and Iraq’s role and efforts in consolidating the foundations of security and stability in the region.

The meeting reviewed preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections and the need to provide all means to ensure their success, particularly through broad participation and enabling voters to choose their representatives in the Council of Representatives in a way that meets their aspirations and fulfills their demands for comprehensive development.
