Basra leads with 50°C

Scorching weather and rising dust continue across Iraq

BAGHDAD — Iraq is experiencing stable yet extremely hot summer weather, with rising dust and scattered clouds in the eastern regions, according to the Iraqi Meteorological Authority’s daily report on Sunday.

Temperatures are generally consistent with Saturday’s readings, with slight decreases in some northern cities. Basra is set to record the highest temperature at 50°C.

Winds are northwesterly, ranging from light to moderate at 10–20 km/h. Wind activity is expected to increase during daytime hours in central and southern areas, potentially causing dust and sandstorms, especially in desert regions. Western areas may see calm conditions at times.

Horizontal visibility is expected to range between 8–10 km across most regions but could drop to 4–6 km in areas affected by dust.
