Three killed in crash on Dhi Qar international highway

DHI QAR — Three people were killed and five others injured Monday in a collision between a passenger van and a transport truck on the international highway near Tel al-Lahm, in southern Dhi Qar governorate, according to a security source.

“A traffic accident occurred on the international highway in Tel al-Lahm between a large transport truck and a small passenger vehicle of the Starex type,” the source told 964media.

The crash was attributed to excessive speed, which caused the van to slam into the back of the truck. “Three people died instantly, and five others were injured with varying degrees of severity,” the source added.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage in the crash. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims.
