Judiciary recovers 775 million Iraqi dinars from bribery cases

BAGHDAD, October 26 — The judiciary announced on Thursday that a sum of 775 million Iraqi dinars was recovered from financial and administrative corruption cases. The announcement indicated the funds were paid as bribes in exchange for referring projects to a number of companies in Baghdad.

A statement for the judiciary, received by 964, said:

The Presidency of the Court of Appeals in Karkh, the Second Investigative Court of Karkh, specialized in Integrity cases, announced the recovery of an amount of 775 million Iraqi dinars, in implementing the directives of the Supreme Judicial Council to recover the amounts related to financial and administrative corruption cases.

The Media Center of the Supreme Judicial Council mentioned that ‘the amount was paid as a bribe in exchange for referring projects to several companies in Baghdad governorate. The amount was recovered after conducting the fundamental investigations with the defendants charged with bribery.
