Sulaymaniyah hosts second annual cat beauty festival

SULAYMANIYAH — The second annual Cat Beauty Festival was held in Sulaymaniyah on Tuesday, where this year’s title of most beautiful cat was awarded to Gularana, selected from among several feline contestants.

The cat’s owner, Ashti Sali from Kalar district, told 964media, “We expected Gularana to be named the most beautiful cat this year. She’s only nine months old. She feels like my own child.”

Sali said she has raised the cat at home since it was young. “We are two people at home, so it’s clear that Gularana isn’t used to crowded or noisy places,” she said.

“It’s a very special feeling to see her win. Just like some parents feel joy when their child places first, I feel the same happiness for my cat,” Sali added.

Sali emphasized the responsibility of pet ownership, saying, “Having a pet is a form of responsibility. You need to know how to care for them, especially when they’re sick. You can’t just bring an animal home and then abandon it. They deserve care and attention.”
