Al-Sudani, Al-Mashhadani discuss Israel-Iran conflict, November elections
BAGHDAD — Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani met Monday with Speaker of the Parliament Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani to discuss ongoing political and economic condition in Iraq, alongside regional conflict between Iran and Israel, according to a statement from Al-Sudani’s media office.
The statement said the meeting focused on the security implications of the current conflict, referred to in the statement as “the ongoing Zionist aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran,” and addressed its potential impact on Iraq.
Both leaders “renewed their condemnation of the Zionist aggression and rejected the violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and airspace,” the statement said. They further expressed support for the preparations underway to hold parliamentary elections as scheduled in Nov., 11.

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met today, Monday, the Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Mr. Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani.
The meeting included discussions on the political and economic situation across the country, as well as regional developments in light of the ongoing Zionist aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran and the implications of the escalating war on Iraq’s security and stability.
Both sides renewed their condemnation of the Zionist aggression and rejected the violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and airspace. They emphasized the importance of national unity and the need to support the government’s actions and legal measures before international and UN bodies to defend Iraq’s sovereignty and protect its airspace. They also affirmed support for the government’s efforts to promote stability across the country.
The meeting also reaffirmed the continued cooperation between the executive and legislative authorities and the importance of expediting the passage of legislation that supports development plans and enhances public service efforts for citizens throughout Iraq. Additionally, both sides expressed their support for all preparations to ensure that the upcoming elections proceed as scheduled in November.
