State Administration Coalition backs government response to ‘violations’ of Iraqi airspace by Israel

BAGHDAD — The State Administration Coalition voiced support Monday for the Iraqi government’s actions following what it called violations of Iraqi air sovereignty by Israel during its attacks on Iran.

In a regular meeting attended by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani and Parliament Speaker Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, coalition members discussed recent regional developments and the consequences of Israeli military operations in Iranian territory.

The State Administration Coalition — a political alliance that includes major Shiite, Sunni, and Kurdish parties participating in Iraq’s current government — expressed full backing for the government’s stance. “The State Administration Coalition expressed its support for the government’s actions and measures in response to the Zionist entity’s violation of Iraqi air sovereignty,” the statement said.

Full statement of the meeting as published by Al-Sudani’s office:

The State Administration Coalition held its regular meeting today, Monday, June 16, 2025, attended by Prime Minister Mr. Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani and Speaker of the Council of Representatives Mr. Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani. The meeting included discussions on the latest regional developments and the repercussions of the Zionist aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as its impact on security and stability in Iraq and the broader region.

The coalition affirmed its condemnation of the Zionist aggression and expressed solidarity with the Iranian people, who are being subjected to blatant attacks, following previous violations in Gaza, Syria, and Yemen. It stressed the need for a unified stance in response to these unjustified aggressions and transgressions.

The coalition firmly rejected the violation of Iraqi airspace and its use in the assaults carried out by the Zionist entity against Iran, supporting efforts to prevent the use of Iraq’s territory, waters, and airspace as a launchpad for any attacks targeting neighboring countries.

The State Administration Coalition expressed its support for the government’s actions and measures in response to the Zionist entity’s violation of Iraqi air sovereignty, as well as its diplomatic efforts on both the regional and international levels. This comes within the framework of Iraq’s role as the current chair of the Arab League Summit, aiming to prevent the expansion of the war and to promote security and stability.

The participants also emphasized the need for unified positions among political forces to shield Iraq from the negative consequences of regional instability, underlining the importance of prioritizing national interests above all else and fostering joint efforts to protect the country from the fallout of wars and crises.

The State Administration Coalition reaffirmed the necessity of national unity, internal harmony, and the noticeable security stability, and called for the development of media discourse that supports the state’s official narrative.
