Iraq electoral commission seeks 250,000 poll workers for November parliamentary elections

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission announced Monday it needs approximately 250,000 poll workers to conduct parliamentary elections scheduled for November, with more than 187,000 people having already applied for positions.

The commission said in a statement: “In preparation for conducting Iraqi parliamentary elections on Nov. 11, 2025, according to international standards, the Election Commission needs approximately 250,000 single-day poll workers, whether from employees, graduates, or students. The number of applicants as of today, June 9, has reached 187,861 applicants.”

The commission has opened applications for poll worker positions from June 3, 2025, through July 9, 2025. Applications must be submitted electronically through an online link, followed by downloading the application form and visiting registration centers within each governorate with required documents.

The recruitment includes state employees from all departments except security and military forces, as well as university and institute students and graduates, with a minimum educational requirement of a diploma for graduates.

The head of the poll worker selection committee, Director General Ali Saleh Jaafar, assistant to the head of electoral administration for administrative and financial affairs, has contacted the Prime Minister’s Office to obtain approval for granting letters of appreciation to employees who will participate on election day.
