Two arrested in Maysan for unauthorized processing of government transactions

MAYSAN — Iraq’s Federal Commission of Integrity announced Saturday the arrest of two individuals in Maysan governorate for illegally processing government transactions without official authorization or power of attorney.

According to the commission, a team from its Maysan Investigation Office visited the local Social Protection Department after receiving reports of unauthorized persons handling citizen paperwork.

“The team managed to arrest an individual outside the department while he was working on citizens’ files without authorization, in violation of regulations,” the commission said.

In a separate incident, another individual was detained at the vehicle registration complex run by the Maysan Traffic Directorate. The suspect had no legal status within the facility and was found in possession of traffic-related documents he was allegedly processing unlawfully, the commission said.

Both arrests were made under judicial warrants. The commission said two formal arrest reports were submitted and the suspects were referred to the Maysan investigative judge for integrity cases, under Article 240 of Iraq’s Penal Code.
