Suspect arrested over digital blackmail case involving stolen phone

DIYALA — Diyala’s Criminal Investigation Department announced Friday the arrest of a suspect in an digital blackmail case involving a stolen mobile phone. Authorities said the suspect is from outside the governorate.

According to a statement from the department, the arrest followed a report from a girl who had been blackmailed and threatened after her phone was stolen.

A specialized task force was assembled to investigate the case. Officers tracked the suspect and confirmed he was not a resident of Diyala.

After completing the necessary legal procedures, police arrested the suspect and placed him in detention.
