Garmian crash kills three, injures one after car plunges from bridge
GARMIAN — Three people were killed and another injured when a car plunged off the Qulabars Bridge on the main road between Darbandikhan and Kalar, near the Bawanur subdistrict in Sulaymaniyah governorate, local officials said.
The vehicle, a Toyota Crown, caught fire after falling from the bridge, according to the Garmian Civil Defense Directorate.
“The vehicle caught fire after falling from the bridge, resulting in the deaths of three people,” said Ibrahim Mohammed, spokesperson for the civil defense unit.
Traffic police said the car was traveling toward Bawanur when the driver lost control and the vehicle overturned before going over the edge.
Officials confirmed that three people died at the scene. A fourth passenger was injured and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Traffic authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
