Six-year-old killed in Kalar after child fires security officer’s pistol

KALAR — A six-year-old boy was shot and killed in Kalar on Monday night after another child fired a pistol belonging to a member of the security forces, according to Garmian police.

Garmian police spokesman Ali Jamal Qaduri told 964media, “The body of a six-year-old child named Lano Sarud Saadoun was taken to Shahid Hazhar hospital in Bardasur neighborhood of Kalar district last night.” He added, “According to his father, the child was playing in the street and was informed that he had been shot.”

Qaduri said police went to the scene, where an investigation revealed that a 10-year-old child had taken his father’s pistol to the street and used it to shoot Lano. The boy died after being transported to the hospital.

The father of the 10-year-old, who serves in the security forces, was arrested and detained under Article 405 of the Criminal Code.
