Al-Sudani chairs meeting on investment and construction, approves key projects

BAGHDAD — Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani chaired a regular meeting of the country’s Higher Committee for Construction and Investment on Sunday, where he emphasized the need to “enhance the investment environment” across Iraq, according to a statement from his media office.

During the meeting, the committee approved several residential projects and endorsed the establishment of the largest olive farm in Wasit Governorate. Discussions also included healthcare initiatives, such as the creation of an early cancer detection center.

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani chaired today, Sunday, the regular meeting of the Higher Committee for Construction and Investment, during which the agenda items and proposed projects were discussed and relevant decisions were made.

His Excellency emphasized the need for the committee to work on reducing administrative steps and to continue enhancing the investment environment in the country. He stressed the importance of ministries directing their efforts toward investment projects that aim to maximize state revenues, in line with the government’s approach to financial and economic reform.

The meeting witnessed the approval of several residential projects, as well as the establishment of the largest olive farm in Wasit Governorate by an Iraqi-Spanish investment company. This project is one of the outcomes of the Prime Minister’s visit to Spain at the end of last year, during which he met with the President of the International Olive Council.

The meeting also discussed a number of healthcare projects, including the establishment of an early cancer detection center. His Excellency directed that the project be studied by the Ministry of Health and that a report be submitted to the Investment Committee.
