Family of five killed in house fire sparked by electrical fault
BASRA — A house fire in the Al-Jenaina neighborhood of central Basra killed a family of five on Wednesday, a security source said.
“A large fire broke out in a house in Al-Jenaina, central Basra, due to an electrical short circuit, resulting in the death of a whole family — the father, mother, two children, and an elderly man,” the source told 964media.
The victims reportedly died of smoke inhalation before they could be rescued.
Civil defense teams responded quickly and extinguished the fire. Authorities have opened an investigation into the incident to determine the full circumstances.
