Child killed, parents injured in Penjwen traffic crash

PENJWEN — A car crash near the General Hospital of Penjwen on Tuesday night left a young child dead and his parents injured, according to local officials.

Penjwen District Commissioner Hemin Ibrahim told 964media the crash involved a passenger vehicle and an unregistered car. A one-year-and-eight-month-old child was killed, and the child’s mother sustained serious injuries.

Due to the severity of her condition, she was transferred to a hospital in Sulaymaniyah for treatment. The father received care at Penjwen Hospital.

Local traffic police said the unregistered vehicle was at fault and cited excessive speed as the cause of the accident.

Authorities reported that more than three traffic incidents have occurred in Penjwen since the start of Ramadan, resulting in two deaths and more than four injuries.
