PMF bolsters security presence along Iraq‑Syria border

ANBAR — The Popular Mobilization Forces have increased their security presence along Iraq’s border with Syria, according to a statement Tuesday. Anbar sector commander Qassem Mosleh said the move is designed to enhance intelligence gathering through surveillance cameras and drones. He noted that “no security breaches have been recorded on the border so far.”

The PMF said its 33rd Brigade has reinforced security in the Tarifawi area, about 12 kilometers from Anbar’s administrative border, by occupying four key positions that support frontline security forces. The reinforcement follows a new deployment plan issued by the Nineveh Operations Command.

“Our operations are extensive, and PMF security and intelligence units are working around the clock to gather information,” Mosleh said. “So far, we have not recorded any security breaches on the Iraq‑Syria border.”
