Unlicensed flour mill and expired food seized in Nineveh and Kirkuk

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s Ministry of Trade announced Sunday that its inspection teams, in coordination with security forces, seized an unlicensed flour mill and large quantities of expired food products in Nineveh and Kirkuk governorates.

The ministry’s Commercial and Financial Oversight Department confirmed in a statement that the unlicensed mill was producing flour without authorization and that its products did not meet the quality standards set by the ministry.

“In Nineveh, inspection teams identified an unlicensed facility producing flour that failed to meet approved specifications,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, in Kirkuk, inspectors—working alongside the Organized Crime Directorate of the Interior Ministry and local health authorities—discovered a stockpile of expired food items being sold in a commercial mall. The seized products included dairy items, cheese, milk, canned goods, juices, and sweets.

Authorities have taken legal action against those responsible for violating food safety regulations.
