Iraqi president stresses maintaining ‘security stability’ in meeting with PMF chief
BAGHDAD — Iraq’s President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid met with Popular Mobilization Forces chief Faleh Al-Fayyadh on Thursday in Baghdad to discuss political and security developments in Iraq and the region, according to a statement from Rashid’s office.
During the meeting at Al-Salam Palace, Rashid emphasized the need to “continue security efforts to combat terrorism and to work on protecting the security and interests of citizens.” He also highlighted the importance of maintaining Iraq’s “current political and security stability.”

The President of the Republic, Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today, Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, the head of the Popular Mobilization Forces, Mr. Faleh Al-Fayyadh.
During the meeting, they discussed political and security developments at the domestic and regional levels. The President emphasized the need to continue security efforts to combat terrorism and to work on protecting the security and interests of citizens.
The President also stressed the importance of maintaining Iraq’s current political and security stability and reinforcing it in a way that ensures progress in reconstruction efforts, development, and improving public services. He also praised the great sacrifices made by Popular Mobilization Forces members alongside their colleagues in other security and military formations in defense of Iraq and its people.
The meeting also addressed regional developments, particularly the situation in Palestine and recent changes in Syria, as well as Iraq’s stance on these issues. Both sides reaffirmed the importance of strengthening Iraq’s relations with neighboring countries in a manner that serves mutual interests.
