Two young men killed in multi-vehicle crash involving truck in Kut

WASIT — Two young men riding a motorcycle were killed in a traffic collision on Al-Naseej Street in central Kut during peak traffic hours as schools let out, local traffic authorities said.

A source from the Wasit Traffic Directorate told 964media that the incident occurred around 1 p.m. and involved a sedan, saloon, a taxi and a trailer truck.

Preliminary investigations have pointed to the driver of the sedan as responsible for the accident. All parties involved have been detained for questioning at a local police station.

The two victims, aged 24 and 22, were struck by the Mercedes trailer truck as it attempted to avoid a collision, resulting in their immediate deaths. Their bodies were transferred to the forensic department at Al-Zahr General Hospital.
