Two-year-old child drowns in Chamchamal district fish pond

AGJALAR — A two-year-old child drowned Monday evening in a fish pond in Kani Hanjir village, located in Sulaymaniyah’s Chamchamal district, according to local health officials.

“We were alerted to a drowning case in our area this evening and immediately dispatched a team to the location,” said emergency responder Sardar Abdulrahman of the Shaheed Hama Ghafour Health Center in Agjalar. “When we arrived at the scene, we found that a two-year-old child had fallen into a fish pond and drowned.”

Sharif Rahim, deputy director of the Chamchamal Health Department, told 964media that the child’s body is now at the Chamchamal forensic medicine facility and will be handed over to the family after official procedures.
