One student dead, 15 injured in Erbil traffic incident
ERBIL — One student was killed and 15 others were injured Sunday evening in a traffic accident on Lawan Street, local officials said. The crash involved a school bus carrying 18 students and a passenger car that also had students on board.
Amanj Abdulkarim, of Erbil’s Western Emergency Hospital, told 964media that one person in the car died, while another sustained severe injuries. A source at Arzheen Hospital said the critically injured individual remains in intensive care.
Among the students on the bus, 14 were injured, though most suffered minor wounds and were released from the hospital after receiving treatment. A separate hospital source told 964media that the deceased was an 18-year-old student.
