Prime Minister Al-Sudani praises Iraqi-British doctor for volunteering in Gaza
BAGHDAD — Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani commended Dr. Mohammed Taher Kamel, an Iraqi-British orthopedic and peripheral nerve surgeon, for his voluntary service in Gaza’s hospitals during the recent conflict, referring to him as an “Ambassador of Humanity.”
In a phone call on Saturday, Sudani said: “What you have done for the people of Gaza represents an honorable stance that Iraqis and freedom advocates around the world take pride in,” the prime minister said.
He invited the doctor to visit Baghdad, where his contributions would be celebrated. The prime minister also reiterated Iraq’s call to establish a fund for rebuilding Gaza and Lebanon, pledging the nation’s support for this initiative.

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani held a phone call on Saturday with the heroic Iraqi doctor, Dr. Mohammed Taher Kamel Abu Ragheef, who volunteered to work in Gaza’s hospitals during the aggression, helping save a large number of wounded individuals, including children.
At the beginning of the call, Al-Sudani described Dr. Abu Ragheef as an “Ambassador of Humanity” and said, “What you have done for the people of Gaza represents an honorable stance that Iraqis and freedom advocates around the world take pride in. Your work in Gaza with its people and the victims of aggression, under the most difficult circumstances, is deeply appreciated.”.
The prime minister added that the efforts of Dr. Mohammed Taher Abu Ragheef are a true reflection of the stance of the Iraqi people and a reinforcement of the noble humanitarian mission of the medical profession.
Al-Sudani invited Dr. Abu Ragheef to visit Baghdad to honor his efforts and his principled humanitarian stance. He also renewed Iraq’s call to establish a fund for rebuilding Gaza and Lebanon, affirming that Iraq would take the lead in contributing to the success of these efforts.
For his part, Dr. Mohammed Taher Abu Ragheef expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the prime minister, confirming that the aggression Gaza suffered prompted him to stand with them and fulfill his humanitarian duty in treating the wounded. He added, “The opportunity to volunteer and work in Gaza’s hospitals allowed me to represent the Iraqi people, who, if given the chance, would have volunteered en masse to provide their services to the people of Gaza, who were living under the most difficult and dangerous conditions.”.
