Bartella Syriac orthodox church celebrates coming of Christmas with spiritual hymns

NINEVEH — The Syriac Orthodox Bartella Church in the town of Bartella, located in the Nineveh Plains, celebrated Christmas with an evening of hymns titled “Christmas Bells.” The event featured the church choir and school students performing hymns reflecting themes of love and peace.

The event was held in a spiritual atmosphere led by prominent nuns who spoke about the symbolism of “light” in the birth of Christ and offered prayers for peace and blessings in the country.

Father Jacob Saad, Priest of Bartella Church, told 964media, “The Syriac Orthodox Church of Bartella hosted a spiritual hymnal evening to celebrate the birth of Christ.”

Bartella Church is renowned for its vibrant activities, and this event was a spiritual experience that conveyed the meanings of Jesus’ birth, according to participants.

Saad added, “May the Lord Jesus make this Christmas a time of goodness and blessings for the entire world, for Iraq, Nineveh, the Nineveh Plains, and all its diverse communities.”

Deaconess Iqbal Yaqoub, Teacher at Al-Salam High School for Boys, stated that “In celebration of Christmas and the New Year, we organized a spiritual hymnal evening with the participation of the Bartella Church choir and school students, trained by dedicated deaconesses.”

Deaconess Elham Qariakos, Choir Leader of Bartella Church, commented on the event, saying, “The evening conveyed lessons from the birth of Jesus Christ, such as love, peace, hope, generosity, humility, simplicity, and light.”

“We hope that this light shines across our beloved country,” she added, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
