Gas explosion in Garmian village kills one, injures five
GARMIAN — A gas explosion in a residential home in Mahmoud Qajar village, part of the Qoratu sub-district in Sulaymaniyah’s Garmian independent administration, resulted in one fatality and five injuries, all from the same family, local authorities reported on Saturday.
Sardar Mohammed, head of the Qoratu sub-district, told 964media, “This morning, in Mahmoud Qajar village, a gas explosion occurred in a family home. According to initial information, five individuals were injured, and one person lost their life.”
Ali Jamal Qaduri, spokesperson for Garmian police, confirmed in an official statement that a 10-year-old child died due to the explosion, while five others sustained injuries.
“The incident took place earlier today, and six injured individuals were initially transferred to Shahid Hajar Emergency Hospital in Kalar. Unfortunately, one of them succumbed to their injuries,” the statement added.
Resgar Latif, director of Shahid Hajar Hospital, told 964media, “A father and five children were brought to the hospital following the explosion. Tragically, one of the children passed away, while the others received the necessary medical treatment.”
