Electricity worker dies of electrocution in Basra’s Al-Zubair during maintenance operations

BASRA – A maintenance worker in the Al-Zubair electricity department died on Monday evening after suffering a severe electric shock while working on a power network in the Al-Dawajin area, southwest of Basra.

A security source told 964media that the victim, a man in his 20s, was part of the maintenance and operations team in the Duraimiya sector. “He was performing routine maintenance on one of the power networks near the Al-Zubair exhibition area when the accident occurred,” the source said.

The worker sustained an electric shock while carrying out his duties. Despite immediate response efforts, he succumbed to his injuries about an hour after the incident.

Emergency teams from the Al-Zubair Electricity Department rushed to the scene, and the victim’s body was transported to Al-Zubair General Hospital. Authorities have opened an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
