Abdulaziz Al-Dahar revives watercolor art in Basra with 35 art pieces

BASRA — Renowned Iraqi artist Abdulaziz Al-Dahar showcased 35 watercolor artworks at Hamid Saeed Gallery in Al-Abbasiyah, central Basra. His paintings, focusing on daily life and public scenes, drew significant attention from artists and enthusiasts, highlighting his connection to the global watercolor art movement.

Al-Dahar explained the uniqueness of watercolor art, emphasizing the specialized materials, including paper, colors, and techniques, that bring his work to life.

“Watercolor art comes alive with simple yet professional strokes,” he stated. He added that Basra boasts a dedicated community of watercolor enthusiasts and expressed his desire to form a team of watercolor artists to host collaborative exhibitions.

The exhibition also provided an opportunity for younger artists to learn from Al-Dahar’s experience. Yasmeen Namir, a participating artist, noted, “Attending this exhibition allows us to explore the latest works by our mentor, Abdulaziz Al-Dahar, and gain insights into his distinctive approach to this art form.”

She described his work as one of Basra’s most significant contributions to contemporary art in the country.
