Young man from Sulaymaniyah’s Hajiawa district aims to set record for Iraq’s largest pizza
SULAYMANIYAH — A young man named Shalaw Nader from the Hajiawa district in the Sulaymaniyah’s Raparin independent administration has crafted a massive pizza, measuring seven meters in length and 130 centimeters in width, with hopes of setting the record for the largest pizza ever made in Iraq.
Nader, 26, revealed plans to create an even larger pizza next year in an effort to officially secure a record. “Our goal is to set the record for the largest pizza in Iraq and eventually get our name into Guinness World Records,” he said.
The project, which cost approximately 600,000 Iraqi dinars (about $400 USD), was designed not only to showcase culinary creativity but also to raise awareness about environmental protection in Hajiawa. After presenting the pizza, it was distributed among local environmental activists as part of the campaign.
“This is more than just about size; it’s about bringing attention to important issues while doing something extraordinary,” Nader explained.
The current Guinness World Record for the largest pizza was set on January 19, 2023, by YouTube star Airrack [Eric Decker] in Los Angeles, California. This colossal pizza measured 1,296.72 square meters (13,957.77 square feet).
