Laborer killed in fatal collision on Kalar-Khanaqin road
SULAYMANIYAH — A fatal traffic collision on the Kalar-Khanaqin road claimed the life of a 20-year-old laborer on his way to work. Khanaqin, located in Diyala Governorate, and Kalar, the central city of the Garmian Independent Administration within Sulaymaniyah Governorate, are both part of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
According to Saman Ali, spokesperson for Garmian Traffic Police, the incident occurred on Tuesday near the Khanaqin checkpoint. “A three-wheeled motorcycle attempted to overtake a Mercedes Actros truck traveling towards Kalar, but lost control, resulting in a collision,” Ali stated. “One of the passengers fell and was subsequently struck by the truck, leading to his death.”
The victim, a 20-year-old resident of Rizgari sub-district in Kalar, was commuting to Khanaqin for work. The motorcycle, which was carrying three individuals, overturned during the accident. The two other passengers were injured and transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
