Police officers, suspect injured in armed confrontation during pursuit
KIRKUK – Police officers and a suspect were injured on Monday during an armed confrontation in Kirkuk’s Shorja district. Saman Ramazan, head of the Anti-Crime Unit at Azadi Police Station, sustained injuries while pursuing a suspected thief.
“We were monitoring a suspect involved in a theft when he confronted us with a firearm,” Ramazan told 964media. “Both myself and another officer were injured.”
The altercation occurred as police attempted to apprehend the suspect, who confronted officers with a firearm. The suspect was injured in the exchange and later detained by police. Ramazan is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital for his injuries, according to sources familiar with the incident.
