Iraqi prime minister discusses regional security and bilateral ties with British Ambassador

BAGHDAD — Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani met with British Ambassador Stephen Hitchen on Sunday to discuss regional security and international law amidst the ongoing Hamas-Israel and Hezbollah-Israel conflicts. The leaders also addressed the strengthening of bilateral relations between Iraq and the United Kingdom, and rescheduled the Prime Minister’s official visit to the UK, which was postponed due to regional tensions.

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met today the British Ambassador to Iraq, Stephen Hitchen.

The Prime Minister emphasized the key role of the international community and the United Nations Security Council in maintaining security and stability, in light of the current regional developments, including the ongoing Zionist aggression on Gaza and Lebanon, and the continued targeting of civilians in a genocidal war that requires International condemnation. He also highlighted the need to adhere to international laws and prevent any violation.

The meeting also addressed ways to enhance the bilateral relations between the two countries and discussed their progress. Additionally, they discussed scheduling a new date for the Prime Minister’s official visit to the United Kingdom, which had previously been postponed due to regional developments.
