'Seducing taxi drivers'
Baghdad police arrest man for allegedly dressing as a woman to rob cab drivers
BAGHDAD — On Saturday, Baghdad police arrested a man who had been allegedly disguising himself as a woman to seduce taxi drivers, only to rob them afterward.
In a statement from the Baghdad Rusafa Police Command, units from the New Baghdad Police Station and the Second Rusafa Emergency Regiment apprehended the suspect during a routine security patrol. “The man, dressed in women’s clothing, would solicit taxi drivers under false pretences in order to steal from them,” the statement read.
The arrest occurred after officers became suspicious of the individual, initially believing him to be a woman. Upon further inspection, they realised it was a man in disguise. The suspect is now detained and legal proceedings are ongoing.
Police emphasised their commitment to public safety, stating, “This operation is part of our ongoing efforts to protect citizens and prevent criminal activities.”
