Iraqi government allocates funds for concrete wall along Syrian border
BAGHDAD, September 18 — Iraq’s Cabinet has allocated approximately 15 billion Iraqi dinars for the construction of a concrete wall along the Iraq-Syria border, continuing from the previous wall in the Sharqi Al-Rawi region south of Tal Safouk.
The Cabinet’s press office stated in a press release:
In reaffirmation of the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to enhance the security of Iraq’s borders, the Cabinet approved the allocation of 15,140,400,000 dinars from the emergency reserve allocations to the Ministry of Interior. This allocation is for the construction of a concrete wall along the Iraq-Syria border in Sector Six, extending from the Sharqi Al-Rawi area, south of Tal Safouk, through the Al-Ajeeg Valley towards Tarifawi. The wall’s length is approximately 50 kilometers, and the execution will be carried out through a public tender, in accordance with the provisions of Article 6 of the Federal General Budget Law for the fiscal years.
