Kurdistan imports $3.22 billion in goods in first half of 2024

ERBIL – The Kurdistan Regional Government’s Ministry of Trade announced that goods valued at $3.22 billion were imported through the region’s border crossings and the Erbil and Sulaymaniyah airports during the first six months of the year. Additionally, 267,197 tons of expired food products were seized as traders attempted to transport them into other parts of Iraq for sale to consumers, resulting in fines worth over $170,000.

In the past six months, more than 271,000 tons of goods worth $3.22 billion were imported. This figure does not include the 80,399 vehicles also imported, according to a statement from the ministry.

The ministry also reported that a total of 55,672 tons of imports came through the Ibrahim Khalil, Haji Omran, Parwezkhan, and Bashmakh border crossings, as well as the Erbil and Sulaymaniyah international airports.
