Iraq affirms commitment to security agreement with Iran and sovereignty

BAGHDAD, September 13 — Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein stated on Wednesday that Baghdad has fulfilled its commitments regarding a security agreement with Tehran.

Hussein emphasized Iraq’s rejection of any threat to its sovereignty and its refusal to allow its territory to be used for attacks against Iran. However, he did not provide further details regarding whether this involved relocating the headquarters of Kurdish opposition parties to Iran to other locations inside Iraq.

During a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart in Tehran, Hussein reiterated that Iraq is committed to the agreement it has reached with the Iranian side. This agreement includes the removal of armed groups from the borders and their relocation to refugee camps in Kurdistan, away from the border areas.
