Check-up campaign

Roving health teams in Halabja extend service to rural areas

HALABJA — The Halabja Health Department has launched a mobile health check-up campaign targeting chronic and infectious diseases in rural areas under the slogan “If you cannot come to health services, we will bring health services to you.” The initiative addresses the lack of adequate health facilities in many rural parts of the Kurdistan Region.

The campaign kicked off in the village of Dagashekhan in the Hawraman area. The team, comprising doctors and lab technicians, aims to mitigate the prevalence of chronic and infectious diseases through early examinations and health education, according to Azad Mustafa, head of Halabja Health. Speaking to 964media, Mustafa said, “To prevent citizens from suffering from chronic and infectious diseases and to conduct early examinations, a health team has been dispatched.”

The mobile units are conducting initial screenings, which include checks for blood pressure, blood sugar levels, oxygen levels, heart rate, and dental health. Additionally, the team is testing water sources and providing health guidelines to improve the overall well-being of the villagers.

Halabja, recognized as a governorate by the Kurdistan Regional Government but still awaiting recognition by the federal government in Baghdad, is located near the Iran border, approximately 51 miles southeast of Sulaymaniyah.
