Three killed, nine injured in car crash near Zakho
ZAKHO — A car crash on the road between Zakho and Batifa in the Bersiv area late Friday night claimed the lives of three people and injured nine others.
The collision involved two vehicles and led to the immediate deaths of a father, his son, and daughter, all members of the same family. Two died at the scene while a third was rushed to hospital before succumbing to their injuries.
Bashir Ali, a traffic spokesperson in Zakho, conveyed to 964media the severity of the incident. “The main cause of the severe accident was the head-on collision between the two vehicles, both of which were heavily occupied with passengers,” Ali said.
Amir Ali, a health spokesperson in Zakho, also spoke to 964media, providing an update on the medical response. “Two of the injured were transferred to Dohuk for emergency treatment due to the severity of their injuries, while the remaining injured are under observation in Zakho,” he said.
