Halabja welcomes nearly 85,000 tourists during holiday

HALABJA — Nearly 85,000 tourists flocked to Halabja’s attractions during the four-day Eid al-Adha holiday, according to tourism statistics.

The Directorate of Tourism in Halabja reported an exact count of 84,176 visitors. Throughout the holiday, inspectors diligently monitored the tourist sites, documenting 40 violations.

Halabja, renowned as a vibrant tourist destination, draws a significant number of visitors annually from across the Kurdistan Region and other Iraqi governorates.

Officials said that despite the large influx of tourists, there were no ‘undesirable incidents’.

Halabja, now officially recognized as a governorate by the Kurdistan Regional Government, is situated near the Iran border, roughly 83 kilometers southeast of Sulaymaniyah.
