Approaching capacity

Over 50,000 tourists visit Soran during Eid Al-Adha

SORAN — The Soran Tourism Administration has reported a surge in tourist activity during the first three days of the Eid Al-Adha holiday, with visits topping 50,000. As the holiday progresses into its fourth day, officials expect visitor numbers to reach the area’s maximum capacity.

Faisal Sadiq, General Director of Soran Tourism, told 964media that the area witnessed over 30,000 visitors in the initial two days, with an additional 20,000 on the third day. The Soran Autonomous Administration, responsible for six districts, 14 sub-districts, and nearly 800 villages, hosts a population of about 380,000.

“The influx of tourists has been steady, and all our destinations are seeing substantial activity,” said Sadiq. He attributed the smooth travel and visitation experience to the collaborative efforts of transportation teams, civil defense units, police, and security forces.

With the holiday ongoing, Sadiq anticipates the tourist count will remain high on the fourth day. Soran, renowned as a favored destination, annually draws numerous visitors from across the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
