Iraq’s interior minister to establish female police patrols

BAGHDAD — Minister of Interior Abdul Amir Al-Shammari has announced plans to form police patrols made up of female personnel for security and service duties.

This announcement was made during a conference aimed at boosting the role of women within the ministry. The conference, titled “Developing the Role of Women in the Ministry of Interior,” underscored the necessity of approaches led by women to address challenges such as extortion and domestic violence.

Al-Shammari highlighted the need for building leadership skills among female officers and workers, emphasizing the importance of training. The ministry aims to increase female participation in officer and personnel courses.
