Baghdad International Airport remains operational despite leaky roof

BAGHDAD –  The Ministry of Transport in Iraq has put the authorities at all airports on high alert due to weather concerns, aiming to avoid any impact on flight operations. The announcement highlighted the emergency teams’ readiness to manage the expected rainfall and ensure the continuous smooth flow of air traffic.

The statement specifically mentioned Baghdad International Airport, where efforts are concentrated on monitoring the weather’s effect on flight schedules and maintaining operational continuity. Measures have been taken to address rainwater leakage in one of the terminal halls and to continue maintenance and refurbishment work, particularly in the passenger terminals. Despite recent changes in airport management, there have been notable improvements in service levels for travelers.

A dedicated team at Baghdad International Airport has been tasked with addressing any rain-related issues, underscoring that the weather conditions have not adversely affected flight operations thus far. This proactive approach comes in the wake of forecasts from the Iraqi Meteorological Organization predicting a rainy period for the region.
