Masoud Barzani, British ambassador discuss Iraqi political developments

PIRMAM — Masoud Barzani, leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and Stephen Hitchen, British ambassador to Iraq, discussed several key issues Wednesday at the Salah Al-Din resort in Pirmam. Their talks included the election of the speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, relations between Erbil and Baghdad, and decisions by the Federal Court.

A statement from Barzani’s office, translated by 964media, said, “President Masoud Barzani received Ambassador Stephen Hitchen in Salah Al-Din on Wednesday.”

“The meeting covered the political situation in Iraq, regional developments, security conditions, and efforts to maintain stability in Iraq,” the statement detailed. It also mentioned, “Discussions also spanned the election of the Iraqi Parliament’s speaker, the relationship between Erbil and Baghdad, and rulings by the Federal Court.”

Furthermore, “The internal situation in the Kurdistan Region and elections were another focal point of the discussion.”
