Wasit governorate grants license for eco-friendly brick factory

WASIT, Iraq — On Sunday, the Wasit Governorate announced the issuance of an investment license for Iraq’s first eco-friendly brick factory, set to cover an area of more than 37 acres. The facility is projected to produce one million bricks per day.

“The investment license for this significant industrial project in Wasit was facilitated through the Wasit Investment Authority, aiming to construct the first and largest eco-friendly brick factory in Iraq on an area exceeding 150 dunams, with a daily production capacity of one million bricks,” officials said. The factory intends to manufacture bricks of various types, sizes, and high quality, aiming to meet international standards.

Currently under construction in the Al-Suwaira District, the Al-Qithara Factory is expected to offer hundreds of job opportunities for local residents and meet the demand for essential building materials in Wasit, with plans to distribute to other governorates.

The governorate has reiterated its call to investors in the industrial, agricultural, and housing sectors to consider the investment opportunities in Wasit, highlighting the region’s suitable investment climate and unique attributes. Officials have committed to providing necessary support to both national and foreign investors to facilitate their success and contribute to the development of Wasit.
