Evening curfew imposed

Anbar traffic directorate begins impounding unregistered motorcycles

ANBAR — The Anbar Traffic Directorate began confiscating unregistered motorcycles and those lacking customs paperwork on Sunday, noting exceptions for cases where owners have customs documents but have not completed registration.

In related development ,Ahmed Al-Jubouri, media director for the Anbar Traffic Directorate, told 964media that a motorcycle curfew is in effect from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., correcting rumors that it starts at 1 a.m.

Motorcycles without registration or customs documents will be seized at any time of day. However, motorcycles with customs papers that are not yet registered will be held until the owner completes the registration process.

Local resident Saleh Majid raised concerns about the curfew’s timing, calling it inconvenient and urging a reassessment. He argued that the curfew restricts freedom of movement and unfairly targets individuals who depend on motorcycles for their daily needs without offering practical alternatives.
