German organization supports 200 orphaned children in Khanke
SEMEL — In the Khanke sub-district of Semel, the German-based organization OurBridge has committed to supporting 200 orphaned children, offering them a new lease on life amidst the challenges they face. These children, a mix of boys and girls aged between four and sixteen, have found refuge and care within the confines of an orphanage established by OurBridge since 2014.
OurBridge is a German humanitarian organization that supports orphaned children by providing care, education, and shelter, focusing on those affected by conflict and displacement.
Many of these orphans hail from Western Kurdistan and Syria, bearing the scars of loss and separation from their families due to conflicts in their native lands. Under the stewardship of OurBridge, the orphanage strives to meet all the daily requirements of these children, ensuring their well-being and development.
Zardasht Sheikh Shamo, the director of the Khanke sub-district, provided insights into the functioning and ethos of the orphanage during a conversation with 964media. “The children are engaged in a variety of educational programs tailored to their age groups, fostering a structured yet caring environment for their growth,” he detailed.
The genesis of this noble endeavor can be traced back to Perwer Ali Hawl, a Khanke local with ties to Germany. Moved by the plight of the orphaned children, Ali presented the concept to OurBridge, which then took up the cause, translating his vision into reality.
