Shaqlawa education directorate mandates cameras in student buses

SHAQLAWA — The Shaqlawa Education Directorate has mandated the installation of surveillance cameras in all student transportation vehicles operating within its jurisdiction. This new requirement aims to enhance student safety, with vehicle drivers being given a one-week deadline to comply or face legal consequences.

Khdr Hamed, the Director of Shaqlawa Education, informed 964media, “Effective immediately, all buses and minibuses tasked with student transport are required to be equipped with interior surveillance cameras that have recording capabilities. This mandate applies across the Shaqlawa Education Directorate’s area of responsibility.”

Hamed emphasized the directive’s role in ensuring student safety, stating, “Drivers who do not meet the directive’s requirements within the allotted week-long timeframe will be subject to legal actions.”

The directive impacts the transportation for 275 schools under the Shaqlawa Education Directorate, which collectively educate around 45,000 students in the region. This move underscores the Directorate’s commitment to leveraging technology to safeguard the well-being of its student population.
